When I interviewed Andrew, I visited him at his student co-op in Berkeley. When I arrived, he was upstairs in his room, so we began with me taking a couple of rolls of black-and-white. It was a chilly day, so -- believe it or not -- Andrew was dressed! Sweatpants were the logical choice, but of course eventually he took his clothes off.
This was the photoshoot which resulted in the artistic black-and-white prints available through my gallery representative (the Leslie-Lohman).
Andrew put his sweats back on and we moved downstairs to the co-op living room for the interview itself. I was still naked, but this seemed to draw not a single look from any of the residents. They were completely accepting of Andrew and odd acquaintances like me. Which was wonderful!
After that, we moved out onto the street, directly in front of Andrew’s co-op, where my friend Phil snapped photos of the two of us naked on the sidewalk (photos page 2).
